Reconstruction of the jaw defect resulting from ablative resection of tumor involved jaw has been challenging task to plastic surgeon. Many procedures have been devised to deal with this difficult problem.
Free vascularized iliac bone graft pedicled on deep circumflex iliac vessels was developed recently and used widely for its excellent advantages such as, availability of a large bloc of living composite tissue including bone, muscle, fascia and skin, easy donor site dissection, large and long vascular pedicle, few donor site morbidity, rapid healing and bone union.
In this paper, we present 3 cases of reconstruction of wide mandibular defects or mandibular defect combined with lower lip defect using free vascularized iliac bone graft or free osteocutaneous groin flap, and reviewed the methods of mandibular reconstruction.
